Deepashri Dixit

Deepashri holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from Bharati Vidyapeeth College of Fine Arts, affiliated with Pune University (2011), and completed her Master of Visual Arts from SNDT, Pune in 2021–22. Her artistic journey began with works rooted in nature—capturing its many colours, forms, and atmospheric shifts. Over time, her MVA studies and conversations with mentors prompted a shift in her practice. She began to explore the emotional weight of her daily life, and the quiet presence of objects within her personal space. Even the still walls of her home, seemingly lifeless, began to leave a subtle, emotional impression on her. This growing awareness of her environment led her to develop a deeper connection with the inanimate, expressing these feelings through her paintings over the course of a year.

Her return to nature came with fresh eyes and deeper introspection. The eucalyptus tree—an early subject of her interest—re-emerged as a recurring motif. While she initially painted it for its visual appeal, it slowly began to carry emotional weight. Observing its seasonal changes, Deepashri found herself identifying with the tree, unknowingly weaving her own narrative into its form. This introspective and evolving practice earned her national recognition, including both Zonal and National Awards at the Camel Art Foundation Annual Art & Design Contest in 2021. Her work was also showcased at the Monsoon Show at Jehangir Art Gallery in 2022, marking an important milestone in her artistic career.
