JAN KALÁB

Jan Kaláb

Jan Kaláb, born in 1978 in Prague, is a pioneering figure in the Czech graffiti and street art scene. Known initially as "Cakes" with his crew DSK, he helped transform the urban landscape through his vibrant and rebellious work. Over time, his artistic journey has expanded to include 3D graffiti, light installations, animated NFTs, and a blend of painting and sculpture. His art, driven by the interplay of shape and color, explores universal beauty through abstract forms, pushing familiar shapes into unknown dimensions.

A 2006 graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, Kaláb's work has since been featured in prominent galleries and museum collections worldwide, including the National Czech & Slovak Museum in the U.S. and Museu Nacional de Belas Artes in Brazil. His pieces are also part of the private collections of Dior and Tiffany. Known for his innovative approach to form, his art resonates with a sense of déjà vu, inviting viewers to experience the familiar in a new light.

Method presented Jan Kalab for the first time ever in India at India Art Fair, New Delhi in 2024, with a follow up presentation at Art Mumbai 2024.
