VINAYAK SARWANKAR

Vinayak Sarwankar is a Mumbai-based multidisciplinary artist whose work navigates the fluid intersections of memory, identity, and the passage of time. Drawing from personal history, he creates evocative paintings where abstraction and recognizable forms collide—capturing fleeting memories in layered textures and rich narratives.
A graduate of Raheja School of Art (Bandra) with a Bachelor's in Fine Arts (Painting), Vinayak has exhibited his work in various exhibitions, steadily building a presence in the contemporary art scene. His practice is driven by an exploration of nostalgia and impermanence, questioning how we construct, distort, and preserve memory over time.
His latest body of work delves into themes of transience and recollection, employing intricate layers to establish a dialogue between the past and the present. Working primarily with acrylic on archival MDF wood, he embraces the material for its smooth, durable surface, perfect for both traditional and experimental techniques. By priming it with gesso, he enhances its archival quality, creating a versatile base for multi-layered textures and expressive mark-making.
Through his work, Vinayak continues to push the boundaries of painting and materiality, crafting visual experiences that resonate deeply with personal and collective memory.
