The Last Music Store
Rhythm House in Kala Ghoda was Mumbai's most iconic record store. Since opening in the year 1948, just one year after India’s independence, Rhythm House became the place where the city's relationship with recorded sound was negotiated.
It also gave much meaning and purpose to those who worked there day in and day out.
This short documentary, The Last Music Store, filmed its closing nearly 70 years later in the year 2016.
What it captured is not just the end of a record store but the end of a particular idea of what music is for.
