Ahead of Independence Day, artist Harshita Sharma—whose hand-painted kites are currently on view at Holiday Homework—invites children to create kites that are as much works of art as they are objects of play.
Drawing from her practice of working with handmade materials, memory, and craft, Harshita will guide participants through painting and designing their own kites using colour, pattern, and imagination.
The workshop celebrates one of LOAM's central ideas: that the objects children live and play with can also be beautiful, meaningful works of functional art. Each child will take home a hand-painted kite, ready to fly, display, and treasure.
