Whose Voices Count? A Conversation with Yogesh Maitreya | 20 Sept | Event | Method Kala Ghoda
Whose Voices Count? A conversation on independence in publishing & non-brahminical narratives with Yogesh Maitreya, Anti-Caste Author & Publisher. Interviewed by Raghu Karnad.
Yogesh Maitreya is the founder of Panther’s Paw Publication, a Nagpur based publisher of anti-caste narratives. Founded in 2016, they have published numerous Dalit-Bahujan authors to amplify stories of the communities historically and systematically erased from the public imagination. Following in a long legacy of Ambedkarite publishing, they seek to create a space for new Bahujan authors and translations of older, iconic works into the English language.
Yogesh will be interviewed by journalist, essayist, author and editor, Raghu Karnad.
The conversation will centre on independence in publishing, amplifying non-brahminical and anti-caste narratives, and the challenges of keeping this work alive. The conversation will be followed by drinks and an open informal interaction with Yogesh.
Books by Panther’s Paw Publication will be available to buy at the event and participants will also be able to make donations to support the important work of anti-caste publishing.
