Anup Let

Anup, originally from Mallarpur Mofswal in the Birbhum District of West Bengal, is a visual artist and a postgraduate in Fine Arts from the Printmaking Department at Kala Bhavana, Visva Bharati University, Santiniketan. Having grown up across both rural and urban environments, Anup's practice is rooted in lived experiences shaped by these contrasting contexts.

Currently, Anup is developing an art practice under the concept of “queer landscape”, a term that reflects the socio-emotional, socio-political, and cultural terrains shaped by the perceptions and curiosities surrounding queer identities within the local social fabric of West Bengal, particularly in and around Mallarpur. This approach explores how different societal layers interact and overlap within a broader landscape, transforming these observations into a unique creative vocabulary.

Anup’s work emerges from deep engagement with the everyday life of the local community, where artistic practice becomes a means of cognitive and pedagogical exchange, merging aesthetics with lived social realities.

Anup has been the recipient of several notable recognitions, including the Inlaks Fine Art Award (2024), the Inside Out Fine Art Award (2019), the Gender Bender Grant (2022), and participation in the KOQAM Group Art Exhibition (2023).
