NANDINI CHANDAVARKAR

Nandini Chandavarkar is a ceramic artist and visual designer based in India. She holds a degree in Visual Communication from Srishti Institute of Art, Design & Technology and an MA in Ceramics from Cardiff School of Art & Design, UK. Her practice explores personal and political narratives centered on the female body, using ceramics and printmaking to challenge the fragmentation and scrutiny of women in patriarchal societies.
Through monoprinting and analogue transfers, Chandavarkar collages imagery onto clay surfaces, blurring female forms and subverting historical and media-driven gender tropes. Her work bridges post-colonial aesthetics between India and the West, emphasizing the materiality of clay as a vessel for memory and resistance.
She was featured in Crafts Council Magazine UK (2023) and exhibited at In Defence of Shadows (Jaipur, 2024), A Different View (UK, 2023), and Domestic Fragilities (Mumbai, 2022).
