NISHI SHARMA

Nishi, born (1978) and raised in Banda, Uttar Pradesh, completed her Master’s degree in Drawing and Painting from Kanpur University in 2001. For the past 11 years, she has been residing in Delhi, where she works from her own studio.

Her artistic practice is focused on exploring novel dimensions in both theme and technique. In recognition of her creative pursuit, she was awarded the Junior Fellowship Programmed for 2017-2018 by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.

Nishi’s work has been showcased in 46 group exhibitions across India and abroad, a duet exhibition, (2023) and seven solo exhibitions at prestigious venues, including Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi, (2015) Nehru Art Center in Mumbai, (2014) ICCR in New Delhi, (2012) Kala Neri in Jaipur, (2010) Triveni Kala Sangam (2012) in New Delhi, Convention Foyer at Habitat Center, (2015) New Delhi, and one in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Her talent has been further acknowledged through selection for the 91st and 96th Annual All India Art Exhibitions at AIFACS, New Delhi.

 In 2023, she participated in the inaugural edition of the India Art, Architecture, and Design Biennale organized by Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India at the historic Red Fort in Delhi, further solidifying her presence in the contemporary art scene. Nishi has also been an active participant in various art camps, including but not limited to the National Art Festival in Kochi and the National Art Camp in Mount Abu, both organized by the Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi. Additionally, she undertook a two-month residency program at the NIV Art Center in New Delhi in 2013, where she immersed herself in an environment of creative exchange and growth, deepening her artistic practice.
