SURREAL ART
Surreal art transports us to a place where anything can happen. Dreams and the imagination intertwine, sometimes for fun, but more often to depict a subversive message. Through the blend of the familiar and the extraordinary, surreal art challenges our perception of reality through the ironic or absurd.
This art movement, consecrated in Paris in the 1920s, is once again on the rise in India. This art style is often considered to be one of intellectualism and political necessity which may be why it is the movement of choice for many emerging Indian artists. In turning to this form of expression, artists are free to express themselves wholly and unrestrained through imagery with deep and meaningful symbolism.
