Anger by Rini Alphonsa Joseph
Anger is a feeling that creeps. It crawls under the skin.
And yet when anger gathers in the light of injustice, it has the capacity for reformation.
In therapy, acknowledging anger is a tool towards radical self acceptance.
And permitting oneself to be angry, especially in contexts of social and humanitarian justice, can become a portal for powerful expression.
The alien-like bugs are not simply creepy crawlies.
They are intelligent, intimidating and stings.
Ink has been an interesting medium to experiment with on fired clay, because unlike slip, stain or glaze, it mingles effortlessly with the surface.
I used this quality of the material to plot the design on the forms.
I let the organic imperfections of the surface direct the use of ink.
This artwork was exhibited at Method Kala Ghoda in the group exhibition "In the Small, Infinite" (June 2025).
