Grief by Rini Alphonsa Joseph
Originally part of another piece called R.I.P Current that memorialize the loss of my nephew’s death, the fish glided through journal entries from the time period.
The fantastical fish symbolised the surreality of death and navigating existential wonders and sadness around it.
Grief flows. It has to. Or else it floods. So one must let it flow. Grief reveals the inescapable truth - the only way out is through.
There’s a sweetness to the embodiment of grief in this piece - a reminder of love that is still alive in absence.
This artwork was exhibited at Method Kala Ghoda in the group exhibition "In the Small, Infinite" (June 2025).
