Magnification of Saptapadi by Siddharth Soni
An original artwork by Siddharth Soni.
The complete “saptapad” along with the vows of marriage ceremony seems to play the most crucial role. One doesn’t even understand what the pandit is speaking; here, language becomes a barrier as everything is written in Sanskrit, and one has to go through all the procedures in Sanskrit. These vows are dangerous as well as contradictory in the ceremonial ambience. They remain like an undercurrent in marriage life, the newspapers' eye witnessing these types of things every day, including about constitutional rights and honour killings.
This artwork was exhibited at Method Delhi in the group exhibition "Formation & Fracture" a group exhibition featuring alumni from IMMERSE by Somaiya Vidyavihar University (July 2025).
