Owned by Poojan Gupta
The physical and metaphorical weight of brass in Owned gives dignity to an empty blister packet. When touched one's hands experience value, the eye sees trash. The mixed message cannot be reconciled except, perhaps, by aesthetic deliberation. The work defamiliarizes the consumerist presence of blister packs, it makes the empty packaging feel aesthetically strange and visually striking. It refreshes the way we look and the way in which we touch them.
This artwork was exhibited at Method Delhi in the group exhibition "Fresh Produce" (January 2025).
