In "Stones of Survival," the artist shows a stark plate filled with rough stones. These represent the severe hunger faced by Palestinians in Gaza due to Israel's ongoing blockade and military actions. As of August 2025, more than 2.15 million people are at risk of famine because of aid restrictions. Reports indicate widespread malnutrition and child deaths from hunger. Drawing from real stories, Palestinians tie stones around their stomachs to numb the pain of emptiness. This act of survival reflects their larger resistance against occupation.

The plate, which usually holds food, now carries these unyielding stones—symbols of survival and defiance. Stones remind me of the projectiles thrown during the Intifada, mixing physical hunger with an unbreakable spirit. With earthy colors and textured forms, this watercolor-inspired painting expresses deep anger and sorrow. It critiques systematic violence while honoring Palestinian resilience. It challenges viewers to face the human cost of injustice, turning absence into a powerful call for solidarity.
