Strength by Rini Alphonsa Joseph
Strength feels like it has to be felt inside the bones, passed on from generations, a grand wisdom that persists from the marrow. It has to be harnessed.
In every attempt to overcome transgenerational trauma, what has aided growth and healing have been also transgenerational strength.
Ink has been an interesting medium to experiment with on fired clay, because unlike slip, stain or glaze, it mingles effortlessly with the surface.
I used this quality of the material to plot the design on the forms.
I let the organic imperfections of the surface direct the use of ink.
