The Lament of the Deep by Akash Biswas
An original artwork by Akash Biswas.
The Lament of the Deep' uses the intersection of fantasy and reality to delve into the complex relationship between humans and the underwater world, specifically the consequences of overfishing and habitat destruction. The eye of the corals gazes mournfully at the viewer. These eyes serve as a poignant metaphor their enduring of destructive forces of overfishing and coral mining, ultimately suffering from the desolation of their once-teeming homes. The work conveys the urgent need to protect and restore our oceans and become guardians of the marine environment for generations to come.
This artwork was exhibited at Method Delhi in the group exhibition "Formation & Fracture" a group exhibition featuring alumni from IMMERSE by Somaiya Vidyavihar University (July 2025).
