Under The City by Anilakumar Govindappa
"I made this work based on my personal observations and experiences in the town where I've been living for the past two decades. In that timespan, the ground has always been flat & dry. This is not directly due to development as nothing has been in built in its place. Perhaps, the lake went dry from changes in the environment. Personally, I have never seen the ground as a lake, but I have heard stories about how things used to be, and what it was to live with a lake such as this. That's the beauty of this painting, and the smaller work "The Lake" which shows things as I envision they were." - Anilakumar Govindappa
