Untitled by Bhavin Patel
An original artwork by Bhavin Patel.
Urbanization is increasingly encroaching on agricultural land, raising serious concerns about the future of food production. This print is a photo documentation of an actual roti, which has been made on engraved terracotta tavdi. In this work, the artist explores this issue through a symbolic impression of a brick wall on a roti, created using an engraved terracotta tavdi (griddle). The roti and terracotta tavdi represent rural life and agriculture, while the brick wall pattern signifies the spread of urbanization. This juxtaposition highlights the tension between growing cities and diminishing farmland.
This artwork was exhibited at Method Delhi in the group exhibition "Formation & Fracture" a group exhibition featuring alumni from IMMERSE by Somaiya Vidyavihar University (July 2025).
