"Mera Pari-War" tells a story of the relationships and dynamics of a family—the story of mother-father, father-son and mother-son. This work is from a series about the absence of a father who went on various quests to support his family. On the other hand, it shows the face of the family during his absence but also encapsulates their unwavering belief in his eventual return.

    Anurag Paul

Anurag Paul (b. 1999, Kolkata) is a Kolkata-based artist currently pursuing an MFA at Shiv Nadar University, following a BFA from Sister Nivedita University, Kolkata. His practice revolves around exploring narratives embedded in everyday objects, transforming the ordinary into visual stories that evoke personal and collective memories. Through observation, conceptualization, and the use of literary methods, repetition, and mnemonics, his work invites viewers to engage with their interpretations. Tongue-in-cheek titles further enrich the experience with wordplay and wit.

Anurag's work has been featured in numerous exhibitions, including the Award at Kalanand 2024 (Prafulla Dahanukar Art Foundation), MoCA Lights 2023 (Patchogue, New York), Collaborative Space 2nd Biennale (Tasmai Gallery, Puducherry), and the Annual Exhibitions of Birla Academy of Art and Culture (2023, 2024). Other notable showcases include Abir First Take 2022 (Bikaner House, Delhi), Ravi Jain Memorial Foundation Annual Awards 2022 (Dhoomimal Art Gallery), and the 87th All India Exhibition of Fine Arts (IAFA, 2022). Through his innovative approach, Anurag uncovers unspoken emotions tied to objects, creating resonant visual dialogues.
