Kalaa
Shreya S. Rohilla (Kalaa) is a queer visual artist from Dehradun, India, whose work explores themes of identity, gender, and the mundaneness of life. A graduate of the College of Art, New Delhi, she primarily works with oil, acrylic, and gouache on paper but has recently been experimenting with clay and wood to create multi-sensory experiences.
Her practice spans painting, zines, and experimental animation, often using digital and mixed media to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary. A recurring theme in her work is the depiction of human bodies as entities free from social identity, reflecting her perspective on gender and self-perception.
Beyond traditional visual arts, Kalaa is passionate about animation filmmaking, using the medium to tell stories that resonate on both personal and universal levels. Her artistic journey is one of continuous exploration, engaging with audiences through both the familiar and the profound.
