Step to Harbor 1 (3/15) by Samiran Dey

This series of paintings unfolds a symbolic, dreamlike narrative shaped by personal memory and the quiet weight of social invisibility. Through fragmented figures, hybrid beings, and surreal landscapes, the works reflect the psychological terrain of those navigating life on the margins—negotiating belonging, loss, and transformation. The earthy tones and layered textures create a tactile intimacy, echoing the slow process of healing and remembering. Mythic creatures and natural forms act as metaphors for resilience, inner turmoil, and care. In its silences and ruptures, the series becomes a lyrical testament to endurance—a visual archive of memory, vulnerability, and the will to persist.
