    Bombay Bat by Rohan Joglekar

An original painting by Rohan Joglekar.

Bombay Bat by Rohan Joglekar pulls you into a cultural mashup. Batman, reimagined in a Mughal-inspired outfit, blends Indian history with the familiar superhero, making us rethink the hero archetype.

In Mumbai’s moonlit skyline, Joker’s henchmen loot the sacred, while Batman stands poised like a regal Mughal emperor-turned-vigilante. The painting explores protection, power, and faith, all with sharp symbolism.

Joglekar’s subtle political tone hints at corruption and religious tension in modern India. With playful absurdity and rich visuals, Bombay Bat offers layers of meaning, blending wit and sociopolitical critique. With such detailing, the heroic tale must be studied in person.

    Rohan Joglekar

Rohan Joglekar is a breakout surrealist artist in India.

After years of working on independent projects and private commissions, Rohan gained a reputation as a favorite among collectors with eclectic taste.

In 2021, Method presented Rohan’s work to the public for the first time during the group exhibition and India Art Fair parallel event, Fresh Produce in New Delhi.

In 2022, Rohan had his debut solo exhibition, Happy in the Hippocampus at Method Kala Ghoda, Mumbai. The show received an overwhelming response from visitors, collectors, and the press. In 2024, Rohan returned to New Delhi as part of Method’s first ever booth at India Art Fair.

While he started as an outsider from the traditional art trajectory, Joglekar quickly carved out a name for himself in the art world. His work danced between acceptable reality and the make believe. While his pieces edge towards the bizarre, his invitation into the fantastical turns it into a source of pleasure.
