Felt Overload (adventures in conspicuous consumption) by liactuallee
This work delves into the relentless cycle of overconsumption, where the lines between our lived experiences and online existence blur. It captures the unsettling sensation of doom scrolling—endlessly absorbing information, products, and media—leading to an overwhelming sense of overstimulation. The softness of the felt material embodies the comforting yet numbing effect of this digital age, lulling us into a dopamine-driven haze. This piece is not a critique of personal habits but rather a reflection on the shared reality we've all come to inhabit—a world where we, as a collective, have drifted into a state of passive consumption.
This artwork was exhibited at Method Kala Ghoda in the group exhibition "Portrait of a Time" (September 2024).
