"You Are The Energy That You Give" by Spanish artist, Irene Fresh, radiates a blissful immediacy, an unguarded optimism that seems almost utopian in its message of cyclical positivity. It’s a bold, declarative visual statement, rendering the universe and the self in harmonious dialogue. The central figure—head tilted, hands outstretched—appears to be receiving cosmic energy, but there’s a simultaneous act of giving, which makes the image vibrate with a sense of reciprocal exchange.

The flatness of the forms, reminiscent of pop-art’s seductive color blocking, contrasts against the spiritual undertones at play. Clouds and waterfalls seem to melt into the outstretched hands of the subject, emphasizing the fluidity between human intent and the universe’s reaction. The Japanese text hovers above—“You are energy”—a declaration of empowerment that feels sincere rather than sentimental. This is a work that disarms with its simplicity but draws you into a deeper reflection on what it means to be a conduit for kindness and peace.

Irene avoids the cynicism that permeates much of contemporary art. Instead, she invites viewers into a world where energy is reciprocal and infinite. There’s a palpable kindness here, one that resists being boxed into the categories of street art or graffiti. Irene's gesture is gentle but assertive, reminding us, almost naively but never foolishly, that what we put into the world is exactly what we get back.

It’s a delightful middle finger to nihilism, coated in lush, vivid blues and pinks, whispering the radical idea that being hopeful might actually be cool again.
