An original light sculpture by Hansika Mangwani.

A cosmic paradox where self and universe blur into seamless unity. The perfect, continuous orb is a reflection of self, a reflection of the individual identity merging with the vast interconnected whole - an eternal loop without a beginning or an end.

Three concentric rings embody the trinity: the physical, the mental/emotional and the transcendental. The innermost ring, with its steady inner glow, signifies our corporeal self, the earthly identity that grounds us in the physical realm. Moving outward, the middle ring pulsates with gently undulating light, a visual metaphor for the ebb and flow of thoughts and emotions that color our inner landscape. But it is the outermost ring that holds the key to this philosophical inquiry. Here, countless points of light coalesce into a comprehensive field—a radiant, unified reality. This is the realm of the transcendental, where individual consciousness expands to encompass the universal. It challenges the viewer to see beyond the fragile shell of body and ego, and to instead recognize themselves as infinite wellsprings of energy and awareness.

The seamless blending of these rings integrates all facets of our being - a metaphorical light emanates from within, an essential spark that extends outward.

Following light's circularity, self is singularity mirroring totality - source and entirety, a cosmic paradox.

Hansika Mangwani is an emerging light artist and art therapist from Pune, India, whose work is a luminous exploration of identity, values, and the human condition. Her life's journey between Australia and India has profoundly influenced her work, catalyzing an exploration of identity and values through the medium of self-discovery in her artistic practice. She draws from the rich language of her cultural heritage and upbringing, seamlessly merging these influences with a fervent scientific curiosity.

Her works transcend conventional boundaries - harmonizing light, sound, space, and time to unveil the intricate subconscious dynamics woven within the human physiological and emotional systems. At the heart of her artistic vision lies a convergence where art, technology, science, and humanity intersect, birthing narratives that ignite profound reflection, nurturing the very essence of well-being.

Light is a vital force in her artistic lexicon, serving as a potent catalyst for evoking profound emotional responses from audiences. In her works, color transcends its mere physical properties—it almost becomes a portal into the depths of the human experience itself.

Hansika is committed to extending these transformative experiences to a broader demographic, utilizing art as an innovative tool in therapeutic practice. Over the past year, she has successfully facilitated numerous group art therapy sessions, advancing her mission to integrate art and mental health modalities.

Today, she continues to push the boundaries of her art, experimenting with light across various forms, including light sculptures, functional art pieces, and immersive experiential installations.
